Singapore

Last day in Singapore… Such a beautiful city with great heritage. I've been here for 4 days now to attend the World City Summit.

It's tropical weather is quite humid but creates a green landscape of lush trees with amazing horticulture.

The New iPhone 3GS

Got my first iPhone a week ago and I've absolutely enjoyed it so far. The phone is brilliant in all manners and a joy to use.

Emails, SMS, internet surfing, games, music, catching up with the latest news (on the go), finally getting round to watching tons of previously downloaded podcasts (some at least a year old), large screen to view photos, take photos and email or MMS them on the fly, and then the plethora of wonderful free apps (check out "Paper Toss" and "Google Earth").

I'm in nerd heaven!

Oh… by the way, you can make calls too.

Karate Kid

Still hacking away at karate, still enjoying it, still got the fat belly.

Passed my grading today so I've gone up to Red belt (from white > orange > red). I've missed a few lessons but I'm thinking of going twice a week now to catch up on my training. Some guys who started same time as I did are already on the next belt. Don't worry, there's still fire in this old dog yet :)

Ok, who ate all the pies?

I’ve given it a wide berth for some time but I can’t put it off any longer.

My waistline’s ballooning almost by the hour!!!

I’ve taken up Shotokan Karate (again…). I did a bit of Karate in college and quite enjoyed it. I actually went as far as Brown Belt before I was forced to stop due to relocating abroad. I only go once a week which means it'll probably take me a few years to shed any significant weight. I've had to start right at the beginning because I just can’t remember a thing, not even how to tie the belt! Did I mention it was over 20 years ago?

So… I’ve called in the Calvary. I’ll be making full use of a cross-trainer (allegedly) to hasten the weight loss in time for Xmas.

And the beat goes on

The turkey's long gone, the last verse of Auld lang syne has faded into memory and last year's resolutions are being rehashed.

As always, I hope this year brings better tidings than the last. The kids and I spent the holidays without their mum whose away in Ghana visiting her mum. We tried to make the best of it all the same.

I hope to post more often this year (ok, I said the same last year). Here's to more riding, peace, good health and happiness....

On the move again!

Yep, it wasn't long when I proclaimed an "end of an era". However, things didn't quite work out at the new office so I've laid tracks again.

I'm now in new premises, larger space, closer to home and, most importantly, 24 hour access. Though it's not as great as the first office (actually my second but, hey, who's counting?), it's a dramatic change from where I was. The atmosphere is also much, much better. I'm looking forward to an enjoyable stay here.

Getting back into the swing of things

It's been a while since I've been able to put finger to keyboard. The office move took a lot out of me! I actually ended up damaging one of the nerves that controls mobility in my right hand while moving some heavy stuff. I was in pain for some weeks with very little use of my right hand. Thankfully it's mostly behind me now though I'm still on medication.

It was the 10th annivasary of the passing of my mum a couple of days ago, dad's birthday today (Happy Birthday Dad!!), and my eldest will be thirteen later this month. To commemorate these significant events, I've decided to reveal "Da Beast", my trusted iron horse, as the Bike of the Month for March. It's a 2004 Road King Custom with a few goodies add on including a Stage 1 tuning. Enjoy.
